Not long ago, I had the opportunity to go to a preview screening of Wall-E where the Director, Andrew Stanton attended and was interviewed. Even though I got to walk down the red carpet at the High School Musical 3 Opening, listening to Andrew Stanton was a more exhilarating experience - it’s just more my thing.
My Collector’s Edition Fining Nemo DVD is probably a little more collectable now that it has an Oscar winner’s signature on it.
It’s a little late to mention how awesome the movie is, so I’ll skip that bit and go straight to Stanton being swamped with people and DVDs. When I finally got to him, I had a bit of a strange moment where I could imagine him thinking…
“Oh no, what’s this guy got? An entire art pad for me to look through? What did he say? something was rejected by Disney but he had to do it anyway?”
Luckily there was a smile as I showed him preliminary artwork for a Wall-E product I created. It’s such a shame that Disney Licensing prohibits the interaction of their characters with products, because I have such a fondness for this design…
