Office Pandamonium
14 Mar 2007I realised that after a year at my last job, I hadn’t been drawing. Well, almost not at all. I think i remember an occasion during that year when i just had to draw something to tell myself i could still do it and the talent hadn’t begun to deteriorate. thankfully I’ve still got it… but i was rusty, and definately out of practice.
When i described my job to at least 3 friends, ones i hadn’t seen in a while, they were all surprised that it didn’t include any drawing. they all imagined me doing something where i was drawing. And to be completely honest with myself, so did I.
It seems the video games industry has had a remarkably draining effect on many other artists as well. At the surface it sounds like a dream job to geek out over, but I’m not sure if its so good when other people are more excited about your job than you are.
Anyway, I got inspired watching one of Bobby Chiu’s video casts, and made a start on some digital illustration challenges with my friend, Mr Marques, where we each do a drawing concept. The first one is “Panda with office supplies”.

There should be an option to leave a caption for this. Some that I just thought out —

I really like that idea. any ideas of how we could do it?

Nice pic. Kudos for taking the bear by the, uh, claws, and making yourself draw. An entire art career can go by these days it seems without ever needing to draw. But there is a difference in the work - an attention to detail - from those who can draw and missing in those who can’t. Drawing matters.

This is first time in my life when I don’t know what to say. After reading all comments I’m shocked. What has happened with our society, with our young generation? They are commenting terrible information, their lexis sounds terrible. Is that true, that only words they know is “cool”, “cute” and cussing words? What are they thinking of? It’s better not to think about it, it’s too sad
